    HARD STUDY  broke his maiden second out at Aqueduct in November when dropped in for a $40K tag, but has climbed back up the class ladder and scored his second straight Saturday. A romping starter allowance winner on the inner track in Ozone Park Feb. 11, he settled for second behind the more experienced Testosterone (Birdstone) and ahead of Stormin Monarcho (Monarchos) in that venue's Mr. Sinatra S. Apr. 1. The homebred earned a career-best 97 Beyer Speed Figure for a track-and-trip tally Apr. 29, and was the 8-5 chalk to clear his next condition. Squeezed out of a spot early on before being guided out into the clear, Hard Study challenged three deep turning for home and kicked away to defeat Stormin Monarcho by three lengths. Testosterstone completed the trifecta. The winner is the first foal out of a daughter of 1998 GII Schuylerville S. winner Call Me Up (Miner's Cat). Lifetime Record: 8-4-2-1, $189,400.
